Glava is a small village in Värmland (Central Sweden) located at the edge of a unique nature reserve.
Glaskogen is a forest and lake area of approximately 28,000 hectares. It features more than 80 lakes and is crisscrossed with some of the most beautiful and challenging gravel paths. In short, it’s a true paradise for gravel bikers!
Routes
All the routes we’ve created start and end at the accommodation. You can choose from at least 10 routes ranging from 22 to 110 kilometers. Want to ride further? You can easily connect several routes together.
Accessibility
Glava is easily reachable by car, especially in combination with the ferry from Kiel (Germany) to Gothenburg (Sweden). From Gothenburg, Glava is about a 3.5-hour drive. Prefer flying? Opt for a flight to Oslo Gardermoen. From there, it’s a 2.5-hour drive to Glava.
During this gravel week, you will stay in a cozy two- or four-person apartment. The apartments are equipped with a fully stocked kitchen and, of course, your own bathroom. Bed linen and towels are included, and you can wash and dry your clothes for free.
Additionally, each apartment has its own veranda, and you can use the shared fire pit in the garden.
A small supermarket and a pizzeria are located just 400 meters from the apartments.
If you're traveling alone, you can share an apartment with another participant upon request.
My name is Peter Wierda, and since 2023, I have been living in beautiful Sweden with my family. Cycling is my passion. As a cycling guide, I have ridden up Alpe d’Huez at least 60 times. I cycled with guests through Andalusia, Spain, and explored the stunning coastline of Portugal. In between, I raced in the Netherlands and trained on the beautiful mountain biking routes of Appelscha and Diever.
Now, I live in Sweden and am surrounded by the beautiful and challenging gravel paths of the Glaskogen Nature Reserve. You could almost say it was a natural step for me to begin a new chapter in my cycling life. And that’s why you’re now on the website of Glava Gravel Challenge.
